Blue is amazing! In southern Mexico, the Maya have Azul Maya, a turquoise as blue and vibrant as the Caribbean. It went extinct 300 yrs ago after the Spanish left MX but a Maya ceramicist figured out the equation for it, which i wrote about. Another fellow Substacker is also transfixed by blue, @Linda Jackson, of Shellphone Chronicles --check out her June 7 post on How Bue is the Sky? She created a 'cyanometer' which measure BLUE of the Pacific where they're currently sailing. Check it ou.

Martha, this made me smile💙 As I was reading, I kept thinking of Maggie Nelson's Bluets—another beautiful meditation on the many dimensions of blue. I loved how you wove together nature, memory, spirituality, and everyday life into such a joyful celebration of your favorite color. Thank you for this lovely reflection - and I love that photo too!
